User trials: scripts for dictation tasks

Changes made to previous versions

  • Capitalisation errors have been fixed. Words are now consistently capitalised if they are:
    • Proper nouns (Emma, London)
    • Titles (Mr, Mrs, Miss)
    • Placed at the beginning of the sentence
    • Placed after a full stop when the full stop replaces a comma
  • Words and phrases are now highlighted if they are:
    • uncommon or used in a less familiar context that consistently cause confusion ()
    • spoken less clearly or incorrectly pronounced on dictation recordings 'which threatened alloy'
    • antiquated or stylistically less familiar (e.g. )
    • proper nouns which might have alternative spellings (e.g. Harriet, Hartfield)
  • Phrases are separated such that they correspond to the dictation recordings
  • In one instance, a phrase is missing from the dictation recordings so that the subject hears a grammatically confusing sentence. This has been indicated explicitly in the script to alert the subject.
  • Mr./Mister/Mr incosistencies have been fixed: 'Mr' is now the only variant used.
