Model fitting as an Aid to Capacitance Compensation and Bridge Balancing in Neuronal Recording

de Sa, V.R. and David J C MacKay

Determining the resistance of the electrode is important in patch clamp and sharp electrode intracellular recording but can be difficult when the stray capacitance is high. We describe a model-fitting method which automatically infers the electrode capacitance and resistance and cell capacitance and resistance from the response to a hyperpolarizing current step.
