Boxer (1981)
1893 - The Royal Navy battleship HMS Camperdown accidently rams the British Mediterranean Fleet flagship HMS Victoria which sinks taking 358 crew with her, including the fleet's commander, Vice-Admiral Sir George Tryon.
Several vessels of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Camperdown after the battle of Camperdown in 1797:
* Camperdown, was a third rate 64-gun ship captured from the Dutch (who called her the Jupiter) at the battle of Camperdown. She was sold in 1817.
* Camperdown, was an Admiral-class battleship which sunk HMS Victoria in a collision in 1893.
* Camperdown , was a Second World War Battle-class destroyer.

Camperdown subsequently joined the British Pacific Fleet, though did not see action during the Second World War. In 1946, Camperdown deployed to the Far East as part of the 19th Destroyer Flotilla, visiting a variety of ports, as-well as performing a number of naval exercises on the way. The following year, Camperdown, along with the rest of the 19th Flotilla, after visits to many Far East ports, and a trip through the Mediterranean, returned to the UK. Camperdown was subsequently placed in Reserve.
In 1953, at Plymouth, Camperdown was accidentally rammed by Coreopsis, a Flower-class corvette (renamed Compass Rose for her role in the movie The Cruel Sea), causing damage to Camperdown. In 1957, Camperdown joined the 3rd Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet, and just the following year, Camperdown suffered a fire. In 1960, Camperdown joined the 1st Destroyer Squadron, with spells with the Home and Mediterranean Fleets. In 1962, Camperdown was placed on the disposal list and in 1970, Camperdown was finally scrapped at Faslane.
The Battle class were destroyers of the British Royal Navy (RN), built in two groups, the first group of which sixteen were built, the second of which only eight commissioned out of a projected eighteen, of which two, Vimiera and Ypres became part of the Daring-class, being renamed Danae and Delight respectively (Danae was cancelled before completion). Two ships, Anzac and Tobruk, were built for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and were identical to the first group. The two ships became known as the Anzac class.
